چکیده

The effect of varying dietary lysine supply from low to adequate levels on amino acid partitioning across splanchnic tissues was investigated in growing barrows prepared with permanent indwelling catheters placed in the carotid artery, portal vein and hepatic vein. Pigs (32.9 (SD) 1.4 kg) were fed either a lysine-deficient diet (L1; n=9) or a lysine-adequate diet (L2; n=7) according to a completely randomised design. On day 16, ρAH (2%) was infused for 9 h into the ileal vein. Blood samples were collected from all vessels at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 h after the beginning of infusion to measure concentration of ρAH and amino acids. The plasma flow across portal-drained viscera and splanchnic tissues was similar (p>0.05) between diets. Plasma lysine concentration increased (p<0.05) with lysine supplementation whilst that of most other amino acids decreased (p<0.05). Lysine appearance in the portal vein was increased (p<0.05) with lysine supplementation with 60% of additional lysine taken up by the liver. Supplementation seemed to affect the net fluxes of non essential amino acids such as alanine and glutamate probably because of reduced amino acid oxidation. These amino acids are involved in transamination and inter-organ nitrogen transport.

Digestion and nutrient net fluxes across the rumen, and the mesenteric- and portal-drained viscera in sheep fed with fresh forage twice daily: net balance and dynamic aspects.

Digestion and portal net flux of nutrients were studied in sheep fed twice daily with fresh orchard-grass. Digestive flows were measured in six fistulated sheep using the double-marker technique. Three sheep were fitted with catheters and blood-flow probes, allowing nutrient net flux measurements across the portal-drained viscera (PDV), the mesenteric-drained viscera (MDV) and the rumen. Total ...

Relationship of portal-drained viscera and liver net flux of glucose, lactate, volatile fatty acids, and nitrogen metabolites to milk production in the ewe.

The objectives of this study were, first, to determine the relationship between hepatic glucose release and milk production and, second, to determine the relationship between net hepatic uptake of gluconeogenic precursors and milk production. Nine multiparous ewes were individually penned and fed an alfalfa hay-based diet for ad libitum intake. Catheters were surgically placed in the portal vei...

Contribution of erythrocytes and plasma in threonine and lysine transfer across the portal drained viscera and the liver in pigs. Effect of threonine and lysine dietary supply.

Contributions of erythrocytes and plasma to threonine and lysine transport across the PDV and the liver were determined in growing pigs successively fed a threonine deficient diet and a control well-balanced diet (experiment 1) or a lysine deficient or a well-balanced diet (experiment 2). The animals were surgically prepared for insertion of chronic catheters in the mesenteric vein (MV), the po...

Adaptations of hepatic amino acid uptake and net utilisation contributes to nitrogen economy or waste in lambs fed nitrogen- or energy-deficient diets.

We investigated the effect of relative changes in dietary nitrogen (N) and energy supply and the subsequent variations in net portal appearance (NPA) of nitrogenous and energy nutrients on the net amino acid (AA) uptake by the liver and net N supply to the peripheral tissues. Six lambs were catheterised across the splanchnic tissues and received, in a replicated Latin square, one of three dieta...

Whole blood and plasma amino acid transfers across the portal drained viscera and liver of the pig.

Whole blood (WB) and plasma (P) amino acid transfers across the portal drained viscera and the liver were determined during 6 h of a constant p-aminohippuric acid infusion in three hourly-fed Landrace x Large-White pigs (30.5 kg, mean live weight) surgically prepared with chronically inserted catheters in a mesenteric vein (MV), the portal vein (PV), an hepatic vein (HV) and the carotid artery ...
